CMS Releases Recommendations for Reopening Healthcare Facilities

On March 18, 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that all elective surgeries, non-essential medical procedures, and dental procedures should be delayed during the COVID-19 outbreak. On April 20, 2020, CMS issued guidance on how healthcare systems can resume providing some care to non-COVID-19 patients in regions with low incidence of COVID-19, consistent with clinically appropriate precautions and criteria.
